Helping Calgarians plan their vote
Calgary Public Library is re-launching a digital tool to help Calgarians get set to vote in the upcoming General Election on Monday, October 20.
Developed in partnership with Elections Calgary, Plan My Vote is a digital tool designed to help Calgarians create a customized voting plan. The tool offers users support in locating their voting stations, determining when they can vote, and outlining what they must bring to vote.
Plan My Vote is one of a wide range of non-partisan resources and materials that are available to the community in the lead up to voting day. The Library is also offering programs to help first time voters, a Mayoral Candidate Forum, insights on how to understand the issues, and a hands-on teen workshop.
“Calgary Public Library supports voter equity by providing access to information leading up to an election,” says Leanne Hooper. “Through programs and tools like Plan My Vote, we want to encourage our community to participate in the democratic process and feel informed and confident in voting on Election Day.”
The Plan My Vote tool is designed to make the selection and voting process straightforward for eligible Calgarian voters. In four simple steps, the tool provides a plan showing when and where to vote, and what ID to bring. Once you’ve made your plan you can print and/or upload it to a digital calendar so it’s ready to reference when you’re at the ballot box.
“Making a plan to vote — knowing what to bring and where to go — is very helpful for any voter, especially for first-time voters and new Canadians,” says Kate Martin, Returning Officer with Elections Calgary. “Elections Calgary is excited to once again partner with Calgary Public Library on the Plan My Vote tool to encourage eligible voters to plan ahead to ensure their voice is heard on Election Day, Monday October 20.”
The Plan My Vote tool is live and available at planmyvote.ca.
