Libraries are no longer just quiet spaces to work and read — they are also places to celebrate community, discover new experiences, and find inspiration.
Supported by Mary Rozsa de Coquet, Rozsa Arts at the Library is an initiative that brings artists to Library locations for free performances and workshops. These free performances give community members access to high quality arts and culture programming.
Each Rozsa Arts at the Library performance is unique and a reflection of the cultural and creative diversity of our community. Artists specialize in music, dance, puppetry, drama, oratory and circus arts, and more.
While performances vary, a positive atmosphere can be felt as artists share their talents with audience members of all ages. Whether it’s a classical pianist with a calming presence or a puppeteer who performs in a more whimsical and playful way, community members will be able to enjoy a special experience.
In addition to providing Calgarians with access to arts and culture experiences, the program supports emergent artists to build their brand and reach new audiences.
Justine Giles is a singer-songwriter with a revitalized Americana style that often includes poetic personal stories. While performing alongside classical composer Sarah Houston at Rozsa Arts at the Library, Justine noticed how the Library is the perfect environment to connect with others and enjoy music together.
“What I love the most is being exposed to a diverse audience — people of all walks of life, ages, and cultural backgrounds. I find it particularly inspiring that music is something that quickly bonds us all as humans,” Justine says.
