How to Register for the Ultimate Summer Challenge

Are you ready for the Ultimate Summer Challenge? Getting started is easy and only takes a couple of minutes.

Ultimate Summer Challenge is the Library’s largest program for kids, teens, and adults. It doesn’t matter how long you read or what type of book — graphic novel, fiction, non-fiction, or audiobook — it’s simply about reading every day.

In addition to tracking your reading, the Challenge includes in-person, outdoor, and virtual programs, and activities for at home or in the community. Don’t forget to invite your friends and family to register! Everyone can be part of the Ultimate Summer Challenge. The shared reading adventure will be an exciting way to connect and grow together over the summer months.

Register today by following the steps below or watch our video tutorial on YouTube.

How to Register

  1. Anyone with a Library card may visit any Library location to pre-register and receive their Challenge map. Patrons may self-register on their own or can get help from staff in person. Maps can also be downloaded at calgarylibrary.ca/summer. Don’t have your free Library card? Sign up here

  2. Participants can choose how they prefer to track their reading: online through Beanstack, offline with the paper Challenge Map, or both.

  3. Tracking officially begins on July 1 and runs for 62 days until August 31.

  4. For participants using the physical Challenge map, stickers can be picked up once a week at any Library location to keep track of their progress.

  5. No matter what time of the summer a participant registers or receives a Challenge map, they can begin tracking and try to read every day from when they begin. Registration automatically qualifies participants for grand prizes. There are grand prize draws at the mid-point and at the end of summer.
