Central Library Tours

(Grade K – 12)

Visit Calgary’s award-winning Central Library with your class.

Grades K – 6

Tours take place on either Tuesday or Wednesday at 10 am or 1 pm. They are 45 minutes long and include a self-guided scavenger hunt, followed by an optional 20-minute bonus experience (subject to availability).

Bonus experiences include: 

  • Automatic Material Handling Machine: Go behind the scenes to learn more about where your books go when you drop them off at the Library. 
  • Elders' Guidance Circle: Join a member of the Indigenous Services team to learn how the Library honours our place in Treaty 7 territory. 
  • Calgary's Story: Explore artefacts, books, and the Living History digital kiosk and learn some research tips in our local history collection with expert Library staff. 
  • Storytime (for Grades K – 2):  Join us for rhymes, songs, and stories.

Grades 7 – 12

Tours take place on either Monday or Tuesday at 10 am or 11 am. They are 60 minutes long and include a walking tour of the building that highlights our Teen Centrefollowed by an optional 20-minute bonus experience (subject to availability).

Bonus experiences include: 

  • Calgary's Story: Explore artefacts, books, and the Living History digital kiosk and learn some research tips in our local history collection with expert Library staff.
