Mind Mapping Song Ideas

This is a useful way for students to brainstorm words and ideas. Print the template or read the instructions below:

  1. Start with a blank page in your notebook or journal.
  2. Write a word or phrase that represents your central theme in the middle of the page (e.g., travel or summer).
  3. Circle it.
  4. Draw a curved line from that word and write the next word (maybe it rhymes!), idea, or phrase that comes to mind.
  5. Circle that word, then draw another curved line from it. Keep repeating this process until your page is filled with words. Get messy! Use different colours!
  6. Use this map of ideas as inspiration for your song.
