Superhero Day returns to Calgary Public Library

Join us on August 6 to discover your superpower

Calgary Public Library is excited to announce the return of Superhero Day, a free, family event occurring at all 21 Library locations across Calgary. On Saturday, August 6 from 1 4 pm, families can enjoy free refreshments, giveaways, a special Superhero Storytime and guest appearances from your favourite superheroes at select locations! Family-friendly costumes are also encouraged.

“Calgary Public Library is thrilled to invite superheroes of all ages to visit their local library on August 6 to have fun and keep busy through the last month of summer vacation,” says Mary Kapusta, Director of Communications and Engagement for Calgary Public Library. “This is also a great time to pick up a few summer reads and learn more about all the free programs and services that the Library provides.”

Free activities include:

  • Superhero creation stations
  • Superhero refueling stations
  • Comic-making stations
  • And more!

Central, Country Hills, Fish Creek, Seton, and Village Square libraries will also have additional programming and feature special guest appearances. Be sure to visit calgarylibrary.ca/summer to learn what activities and programs are available at each location.

Families looking to bring the fun of Superhero Day home with them can register for the Ultimate Summer Challenge, the Library’s annual free summer program that promotes reading for families, kids, teens, and adults. The Library expects nearly 20,000 Library members to take part in the Challenge this summer and there’s still time to register for a chance to win awesome prizes. Visit any location to register, or sign-up at calgarylibrary.ca/summer.

Superhero Day and Ultimate Summer Challenge are presented by the J K L MacLachlan Family Fund.
