Ultimate Summer Challenge

Summer activities for kids plus a chance to win awesome prizes

Are you up for the challenge?

Kids and families can read (or be read to) and take part in virtual challenges based on science, technology, reading, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STREAM) through the Library’s website throughout the summer.

You can register any time between June 1 and August 31, 2020 with your free Library card. All kids must register with their own Library card, and you can get a free card online.

Register for the Ultimate Summer Challenge now!

For teens, there's the Ultimate Summer Challenge: Teen Takeover.

Track your reading through the website or app and complete fun, creative challenges to earn digital badges. The more badges you earn, the more chances you have to win.

Complete your Challenge Map

Families and kids ages 0-12 can record their reading and listening time by printing their Challenge Map at home. Colour your map as you read and bring your completed map back to the Library after July 20 to receive a reading reward!

Download the Family Challenge Map (ages 0-5) or the Kids’ Challenge Map (ages 6-12)

Need some book recommendations? There are staff suggestions on the Books for Kids page and the Babies and Toddlers page.

Earn Virtual Badges

Check out the cool activities that you can do at home to earn a series of virtual badges. There are activities for all members of the family.

Register for the Ultimate Summer Challenge from June 1 to August 31.

Plenty of prizes to be won

When you register, you will automatically be entered to win a grand prize, including one of ten iPads or other great prizes for kids ages 6-12, or a personalized book and bookbag for kids 0-5 years. Teens can win Indigo gift cards and Chromebooks.

Grand prizes will be drawn in early September. Winners will be notified by phone and/or email, so make sure your contact information on your Library card is up to date!
