While some comments may be seen as controversial, unconventional, unpopular, or perhaps contrary to the mission and values of the Library, the discourse reflects our commitment to intellectual freedom. At Calgary Public Library, intellectual freedom means providing the tools and spaces to support the free exchange of information and ideas, respecting each individuals’ right to privacy and choice.

If users feel content violates third-party platform guidelines, they can report the post or comment to the respective platform (Meta, LinkedIn, YouTube, or X).
These guidelines are informed by the Library’s Code of Conduct, Library Premises Use and Safety, and Social Media Conduct policies.
Obscenity, adult content/photos, defamation, hate speech (speech targeted towards people or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other protected status), threats, commercial advertisements, or solicitation of funds, endorsement of illegal activities, off-topic posts, spam, sharing of personal information (not limited to email addresses, telephone numbers, mailing or personal addresses, or identification numbers) is prohibited.
